Homeless services providers from throughout San Joaquin County are asking for assistance to address the immense impacts already felt due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.  These organizations are essential to the response to homelessness in our County, and anything our communities can do to support them during the next few months will be essential to reducing the spread of Coronavirus for the people they serve, some of the County’s most vulnerable residents.

From 10a – 2p starting Monday March 23 and going until Friday March 27United Way of San Joaquin County has generously made available their offices to be used as a curbside drop off location for donations of supplies such as soap, hand sanitizer, bleach, sanitary wipes, empty spray bottles, gloves, masks, and toilet paper.  United Way will coordinate directly with providers to ensure delivery of necessary items after March 27.

We all know these items are at a premium right now, which is exactly why our service providers are quickly running out.  If you have any to spare, or if you have access to an unused supply due to a mandatory or voluntary shelter-in-place policy at your office, place of business, place of worship or other facility currently closed in response to COVID-19, the San Joaquin Continuum of Care asks that you considering donating these items to local homeless service providers by bringing them to the offices of United Way of San Joaquin County at 777 North Pershing Ave #2B, Stockton, CA 95203.  They also ask that you share this outreach broadly with everyone in your social networks; you are encouraged to share the attached flyer on social media.  And to my journalist friends receiving this message, your assistance in spreading the word about this critical need is greatly appreciated, and you should feel free to contact me individually for more information and/or statements.

If you would like to help but are unable to provide supplies, please consider donating directly through one (or more) of the links below.  These organizations are always in need, but perhaps never more than now.
