During its June Regular Board meeting, San Joaquin Regional Transit District’s (RTD) board of directors approved the FY 2021 budget for $38,980,891. Although the budget is eight percent less than FY 2020’s budget, RTD is streamlining its services to do more with less.

RTD plans to focus on essential needs and ensure adequate coverage without losing focus on its commitment to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation for the region.

“We are ready to be nimble to meet the needs of our community,” said Board Chair Gary Giovanetti. By restricting low ridership routes and continuously monitoring routes to make necessary changes, “RTD is ready to rebuild our business and regain the public’s confidence,” said CEO Gloria Salazar.

Specifically, RTD plans to offer more services to County residents by restructuring Van Go! to a miles-based fare and offering ADA passengers the additional option of subsidized services provided by Transportation Network Companies (TNC) such as Uber and Lyft.

San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) is the regional transit provider for San Joaquin County. RTD’s mission is to provide a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system for the region.  For more information, visit sjRTD.com, follow RTD on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or call (209) 943-1111.
